Angel Gomes has failed to agree a new contract with Manchester United and is set to leave the club, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has announced.

Gomes, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea, has been locked in contract negotiations with the club for months but little progress has been made.

And with his current deal set to expire tomorrow, Solskjaer admitted the academy graduate is set to leave.

‘I’ve got no news – nothing. So it doesn’t look it, ‘said Solskjaer ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Brighton.

‘I’ve not heard from them (the club) last night or this morning, so it seems like they haven’t managed to agree.

‘So the answer is probably short and yes (he’s going to leave).’

Gomes has long been regarded as one of the most talented prospects in United’s academy.

He has only appeared twice off the bench in the Premier League this season, while starting three times in the Europa League.
