David Beckham urged to cut Frank Ilett’s hair when Man Utd win five in a row

David Beckham has been urged to cut the hair of The United Strand’s Frank Ilett when Manchester United finally win five games in a row.

United fan Ilett went viral on social media after declaring in October 2024 that he won’t get a haircut until the club win five consecutive matches.

The Red Devils have won their last three fixtures – and if they defeat Nottingham Forest on Saturday – United will only need one more victory.

United are strong favourites to beat Forest, who are stuck in the relegation zone after an abysmal start to the 2025-26 campaign.

Should United secure all three points, Ilett’s 12-month wait to cut his hair will be over if Ruben Amorim’s side then defeat Tottenham on November 8.

If United win their next two matches, Nani believes that club icon Beckham should be the man to give Ilett a haircut.

‘If that means that Man Utd is winning, I want him to cut his hair,’ Nani told Covers.com about the fan who is on day 391 of not having a haircut.

Day 391 of not cutting my hair until @Manchester United win 5 games in a row! 🎃 Current Streak – 3/5 #hairchallenge #manchesterunited #manunited #hairgrowth #halloween2025

‘We need two more games and I believe it’s going to happen because of the way we’ve been playing, I think it’s deserved.

‘Man Utd just need to be very, very disciplined during the next two games, staying humble and working hard. It doesn’t need to be 3-0 or 4-0, 1-0 is enough.

‘I think after he cuts his hair then everything will change and we will look forward.

‘I think he’d like a legend to cut his hair and I think David Beckham should do it, he’s had plenty of practice. He’d be perfect!’

Former United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen, meanwhile, feels Ilett’s hair should be cut by Sir Alex Ferguson or some of the current players.

‘This is a fun thing,’ Meulensteen told compare.bet. ‘It lightens the mood. The players can now get together and say to each other, listen, let’s get to four and then let’s get to five so the boy can have his hair cut.

‘They will feel that energy from each other. It could be a good motivation for the players.

‘I’d even suggest that they should bring him to Carrington and let the players each cut off one pitch of hair at a time.

‘I think you could even bring Sir Alex Ferguson down. I’ve seen him bring his own pair of clippers to Carrington before.

‘The big difference between now and 15-20 years ago is social media. It can play such a big part in your life and everybody can throw anything on there with no consequences. It can create a bad vibe around the place.

‘Clubs need to be really clear about this with the players, who need to be aware of what can happen if you keep reading all these negative things because you will start to feel that negativity too. Winning the five games to give the boy his haircut? That can be an antidote for the whole team.’

Craig Bellamy’s stance on leaving Wales to take Celtic job revealed

Former Celtic player Craig Bellamy has reportedly made his stance clear after emerging as one of the favourites to replace Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers left the Scottish champions after a disappointing start to the season, which left Celtic eight points adrift of Heart of Midlothian.

The 52-year-old’s departure has proved particularly tumultuous, with Celtic major shareholder Dermot Desmond labelling Rodgers’ behaviour in the months prior to his departure as ‘divisive, misleading, and self-serving’.

Martin O’Neill has taken over the club on an interim basis following Rodgers’ departure, but the 73-year-old insisted his stay will only be temporary until a permanent successor to Rodgers is found.

Ange Postecoglou has also been linked with a return to Celtic after he was sacked by Nottingham Forest earlier this month.

However, sources close to Postecoglou are said to have downplayed the prospect of the 60-year-old agreeing to a second stint at Celtic at this time.

Current Wales manager Bellamy has also emerged as a frontrunner for the job after his impressive start managing his national side.

The 46-year-old, who played for Celtic on loan in 2005, is highly regarded by the Scottish club and is among a number of candidates still being consdered for the role.

However, Sky Sports reports is fully focused on his current role at Wales ahead of a crucial two games in their bid to qualify for next summer’s World Cup.

Should Wales win their qualifiers against Liechtenstein and North Macedonia next month, they will finish second in their group and ensure a home playoff semi-final next March.

Bellamy has spoken at length previously about his desire to manage Wales in a World Cup, having missed out on the opportunity as a player, and therefore would likely not be available as an immediate appointment.

Elsewhere, current Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna has been heavily linked with the role.

McKenna guided Ipswich to consecutive promotions from League One to the Premier League, but Celtic would have to fork out a substantial compensation fee to prise the Northern Irishman away from Portman Road.

Asked about the vacancy, the 39-year-old described Celtic as ‘a really big football club’ but said no conversations had been held about a potential switch.

‘I have not had any of those conversations,’ he said. ‘It’s not something I have given any thought to, or where any part of my concentration is this week.

‘I have a special job here at a special club. And we’re at a really important stage of the season. Anything outside of that hasn’t touched my radar.’
