Everton striker Richarlison reignited his rivalry with Liverpool by taunting the club on social media after their 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The Reds endured a miserable night in the Spanish capital and found themselves two goals down in the first half after strikes from Vinicius Junior and Marco Asensio.

Liverpool threatened a comeback in a marginally improved second half, with Mohamed Salah netting an away goal minutes after the restart, but Vinicius grabbed a third goal for Real to give Jurgen Klopp’s side a mountain to climb in the second leg.

Exiting the Champions League at this stage would be disastrous for the soon-to-be-dethroned Premier League holders, who sit in seventh place in the table – three points off the top four.

Everton will feel confident of finishing ahead of their rivals this season and Richarlison was clearly enjoying seeing the red half of Merseyside struggle so much.

The Brazilian has had a number of run-ins with Liverpool fans on social media this season, having become public enemy number one after his horrible red card tackle on Thiago back in October.

But he could not resist stoking the fires once again by uploading an image to Instagram of himself alongside compatriot Vinicius – who netted twice against Liverpool – as well as retweeting the Real star on Twitter.

Liverpool fans were also unhappy with one of their own Brazilians after Roberto Firmino ‘liked’ Vinicius’ post-match celebratory post on Instagram.

Richarlison recently revealed that he was blanked by Thiago when he tried to apologise for his horror tackle, saying last month: ‘The last game I made that challenge on Thiago and got sent off. My goodness.

‘Then I went on Instagram to apologise and such. He only saw it. I said, “I’m going to delete this message too, since he doesn’t want to reply”. Then I went there and deleted it. He didn’t answer, no.

‘Then there was the derby now, at their home, he didn’t look at my face, I didn’t look at him, either. The game goes on. He ignored the pigeon.’
