Scott McTominay has issued a dismissive response to criticism from Roy Keane, insisting he won’t ‘cry’ over any condemnation from the former Manchester United captain and Sky Sports pundit.
Scotland international midfielder McTominay has established himself as a regular for United and has mostly been partnered with Fred in big games this season.
However, following the Red Devils’ 4-2 defeat to rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford earlier this month, Keane claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will be unable to win major trophies while they have McTominay and Fred in midfield.

‘I just look at the performance tonight of the two midfielders – McTominay is a good honest player, and they’ve got Fred,’ Keane told Sky Sports.
‘As long as those two players are playing in midfield for Manchester United, they will not be winning any big trophies.
‘Okay, they have got the Europa League final in a few weeks. But they are only there because they came up short in the Champions League.’
And when quizzed on Keane’s comments, McTominay responded: ‘What did he say?’
‘I didn’t see it, but it doesn’t matter. People talk. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and you have to respect that.
‘But I’m not going to spit my dummy out and cry over something Roy Keane says.
‘If that’s what he thinks, then that’s what he thinks.
‘For me, it isn’t a drama. I’d be a fool if I went home worrying about what people think about me.’
