Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba should leave the club this summer because manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not ‘understand’ the World Cup winner.
That’s the verdict of Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly, who believes the infrastructure isn’t in place at Old Trafford for Pogba to thrive.
Pogba rejoined United in 2016 for a then-world record fee of £89m but he’s picked up just two pieces of silverware during his five years back at Old Trafford and his second stint has been overshadowed at times by his desire to leave the club.
The 28-year-old has 15 months to run on his deal at the Theatre of Dreams and his agent Mino Raiola urged the club to cash in on him earlier this season to avoid losing him on a free transfer in 2022.
Despite the off-field issues, Pogba’s been in fine form for United this term and his performances have arguably been his best since he returned from Juventus.

Asked if Pogba had fulfilled his potential, Desailly said: ‘No, not yet, not yet, but not especially because he’s not committed.
‘Probably because the elements around him are not fitting with his quality, his state of mind.
‘He needs a good city. He needs a good team who play for him. He needs a coach who understands him.
‘[Didier] Deschamps readjusted Pogba during the World Cup. He changed his system to 4-2-3-1 for Pogba.
‘Out of four elements to make Pogba the best… if only two of the elements are there it’s not enough for him to express himself.
‘There is two out of four [at Manchester United] so probably he has to go somewhere else to gain an extra one to potentially be able to show that consistency and that talent that he has and shine in the football world.’
United will reluctantly cash in on Pogba this summer should the Frenchman intimate he’s unwilling to sign a new deal.
Pogba currently earns around £290,000-a-week at Old Trafford and is the club’s second highest earner behind David De Gea.
The Spaniard could leave United this summer, with the club keen to trim the wage bill.
