Arsenal are close to agreeing a deal with Real Madrid for the permanent transfer of Martin Odegaard and could unleash the incoming signing against Chelsea this weekend.
Norway international Odegaard spent six months at the Emirates last season, scoring two goals in 20 appearances for the Gunners.
The 22-year-old was intent on reviving his Real Madrid career following his return to the Bernabeu but now looks set to be heading back to north London.
The Athletic say Arsenal are closing in on a permanent deal for Odegaard, who did not take part in Real Madrid training on Tuesday ahead of the likely transfer move.
