Chelsea’s injury crisis has deepened after Conor Gallagher went off injured early into the clash at Brentford on Wednesday night.
The midfielder was forced off after just 16 minutes at the Gtech Community Stadium, after the ball cannoned into his knee while it was planted in the turf, with Mateo Kovacic subbed on his place
However, while Gallagher was unable to continue, he did walk off the pitch with many suspecting that his injury is just a knock.
Graham Potter seemed to confirm these suspicions in his post-match press conference, saying: ‘I haven’t spoke to the doctors but he just felt ill.
‘He thought he was going to be sick so hopefully it’s just a 24 hour thing and he will be okay.’
The match ended goalless, though both sides had plenty of chances, with Kepa Arrizabalaga making several outstanding saves.

Potter is already dealing with a number of injuries at Stamford Bridge with defenders Reece James and Wesley Fofana currently on the sidelines, with James very likely to miss the World Cup next month with a knee problem.
N’Golo Kante will also miss out on the tournament in Qatar, with a persistent hamstring injury set to keep the Frenchman out until the new year.
Gallagher will be hoping that he can remain fit and in contention for the Blues’ starting XI, with the 22-year-old an outsider for a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
After Wednesday night’s results, Chelsea are fourth in the table, seven points off leaders Arsenal, and will now prepare to host Manchester United on Saturday evening.
