Romelu Lukaku has taken inspiration from Didier Drogba and Thierry Henry in developing his game, and how he continues to improve, on his return to Chelsea.

The 28-year-old has re-signed for Chelsea for £97.5m from Inter Milan, having left the club back in 2014 for Everton, with his journey also winding through Manchester United before returning to Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian has come back to the Premier League as one of the finest strikers on the planet, scoring an incredible 64 goals in 95 games for Inter over the last two seasons and he plans on continuing to improve.

Lukaku has been speaking to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba about his return to the club and he wants to replicate the attention to detail that the Ivorian, and Arsenal icon Henry, are known for.

Speaking of Drogba, Lukaku told Sky Sports: ‘We spoke a few days ago and we spoke about that time [Lukaku’s first Chelsea spell] and about the progress that I’ve made and what I have to keep improving – keeping the same hunger all the time.

‘The thing about Didier is that he’s a very detailed individual. Thierry Henry is also very detailed and it’s the details that make the difference. We talk about individual exercises that I like, what’s the goal of each exercise and we talk about those things, but also about trying to win because that’s the thing that matters.

‘He’s a winner in every sense of the word and that’s the thing I want to achieve for this football club.’

Lukaku is due to play in Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon as the Blues look to continue their early-season momentum.

Thomas Tuchel’s men hammered Crystal Palace 3-0 on the opening weekend of the season, while Arsenal had a much, much worse start to their campaign.

Mikel Arteta watched his side lose 2-0 at newly-promoted Brentford and will be desperate to bounce back, although that will be no easy feat against the European champions.
