Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has requested that Mason Greenwood’s return for England be delayed ahead of upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The Three Lions face off against Andorra and Hungary in October, and Gareth Southgate wants to call upon the 19-year-old for the first time in a year.
Greenwood and Manchester City starlet Phil Foden were sent home from England duty in September 2020 for breaking Covid-19 rules, and the former hasn’t featured since.

However, the Daily Mail report that Solskjaer wants the teenager to stay with United over the next international break as he feels that his situation with the Three Lions needs to be handled carefully.
Greenwood has impressed this season, keeping the likes of Jadon Sancho out of the team with three Premier League goals so far.
But some at the club don’t want the forward to face the intense pressure that would come with his return to the England squad.
England are currently top of their World Cup qualifying group after winning five and drawing one of their six matches so far.
Their upcoming opponents, Andorra and Hungary, are in fifth and fourth place in Group I respectively.
