Manchester City have made an official complaint after a Liverpool fan allegedly spat at their backroom staff during the 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Defending champions Man City twice came from behind to secure a draw in a Premier League thriller between two title rivals on Sunday.

Shortly after the match, it emerged Man City’s backroom staff had made a complaint after they were allegedly spat at by a Liverpool fan during the second half.

Manchester City believe the incident, which is said to have occurred after Sadio Mane’s opening goal, was caught on camera and an investigation is now underway.

Pep Guardiola said: ‘I don’t know exactly, I didn’t see the images. If what happened that the people told me, Liverpool will take measures with this person.

‘Liverpool is much greater than this behaviour, so nothing will change my admiration for this club.

‘The same with what happened a few years ago when they destroyed our bus when we came here.

‘We said it was certain people, not Liverpool FC. So it’s always a pleasure to come here.’
