Talks to extend
Andreas Christensen’s Chelsea contract have stalled amid interest from Barcelona, according to reports. The Denmark international’s current contract runs out at the end of the season and has been free to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs as of January 1.
The 25-year-old looked to be on the verge of signing a new four-year deal at Stamford Bridge, but Barca’s interest, coupled with the player’s decision to change agent means that Chelsea will now have to start negotiations from scratch if they stand any chance of persuading him to stay, reports DiMarzio.
Speaking last month, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel remained calm on Christensen’s future – hinting that they the club would provide positive news on the situation in a ‘matter of days.’
‘My understanding was that it is a matter of a very short period that we have good news,’ he said.
‘I said this in the national break, that for me it is a matter of days that we think that we can have good news about Andreas.’

Christensen is one of several Chelsea players out of contract at the end of the campaign, with the futures of Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta also needing to be resolved as soon as possible.
Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Juventus have all began talks with Rudiger’s representatives in an attempt to agree a pre-contract agreement for the Chelsea defender, while Manchester United also remain interested in the 28-year-old.
The former Roma star is yet to make a final decision as to where his future lies, with the potential of signing a new contract with Chelsea still an option.
