Sean Dyche couldn’t believe his eyes as Jay Rodriguez spurned a glorious late chance for Burnley in their goalless draw at home to Arsenal.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette both came close to breaking the deadlock for Arsenal early on at Turf Moor, but the Clarets kept Mikel Arteta’s side at bay to emerge with a point.
However, Burnley’s players will be thinking about what could have been after Rodriguez rattled the crossbar with a powerful volley inside the six yard box in the 78th minute of the Premier League clash. The stray ball bounced back to Shkodran Mustafi and defender headed behind to safety.
Rodriguez was left visibly stunned that he’d somehow failed to find the back of the net and Burnley’s manager was less than impressed with the striker’s wayward effort.

Dyche. along with several members of Burnley’s bench and coaching staff, had their heads and Rodriguez admitted he was massively ‘disappointed’ to miss the target after the final whistle.
‘I think we should have won with the chances we had,’ the Burnley forward said.
‘We’re really dangerous from set-pieces and our general play was really good.
‘A point maybe is a good point but I think we should have got three.
He added: ‘I was hoping it had gone over the line.
‘I should put that way and should have hit the back of the net.
‘That’s something I’m really disappointed with but I’ll keep going and keep working hard.’
