N’Golo Kante insists the Premier League is wide ‘open’ this season and believes Chelsea’s ‘beautiful squad’ stands them in good stead, with Frank Lampard’s summer signings settling in well at the club.

The Blues appear to be reaping the rewards of their big spending in the summer transfer window and sit third in the English top flight, just two points behind joint leaders Tottenham and Liverpool.

Last week, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp suggested the quality and depth of Chelsea’s squad made them favourites for the title but Lampard was quick to play down the German’s claims at his press conference on Monday.

However, a confident Kante – a title winner with both Leicester and Chelsea – talked up the club’s impressive start to the campaign and feels the season was ‘open for everyone’, with several teams vying for top spot.

‘This season there are a lot of teams at the top of the table with not many points difference,’ Kante said.

‘It means this season is open for everyone so it’s good for us to keep up in this part of the table.

‘We are in a good position but this season is still young.’

Kante said Chelsea’s summer arrivals no longer felt like new players as they have adapted so seamlessly this term.

‘For sure we have a beautiful squad,’ the Chelsea and France midfielder added.

‘Everyone is involved. As players we know what is required to be part of the starting 11 and on the bench, because many players have shown that even with less time they play very well.

‘It’s for the manager to decide but as soon as we are on the pitch, we try to give the best for the club.

‘We had some new players coming in this season and so far they are doing very well. They feel good and we feel good with them.

‘Now they are part of the team we don’t see them as new players because everyone is in a good mood and has the desire to do well for the club.’
