Gary Neville compared Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry after he put the Gunners ahead against Everton on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s side came into the Premier League fixture in good form but found themselves behind after just 49 seconds when Dominic Calvert-Lewin produced a superb overhead kick.

Eddie Nketiah levelled for Arsenal midway through the first half and Aubameyang put the hosts in front just six minutes later.

The Gabon international latched on to a through ball from David Luiz before slotting a shot past Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford at the Emirates.

Reacting to the goal, Manchester United hero Gary Neville told Sky Sports: ‘This is Thierry Henry, everything about it.

‘As he went through on goal you just imagined the great French striker sprinting down on goal, setting it out to that far post and scoring.

‘It’s Aubameyang now, wonderful. He’s got so much pace and he times the run well.’

The goal also drew comparisons with Henry from former England defender Matthew Upson, who told BBC Radio 5 Live: ‘Great composure from Aubameyang but David Luiz – there are not many better centre-backs who can step out like that.

‘This is exactly what he is good at. But I have to say Sidibe has been done a couple of times and he has absolutely had him on toast. Aubameyang is very calm, very Henry-esque.’

Arsenal will move above Burnley into ninth in the Premier League with victory over Everton.
