Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Steve Bruce has done a ‘very good job’ at Newcastle United, despite the Magpies getting dragged into a relegation battle in the Premier League.

Newcastle have amassed just 25 points from their 24 matches this season and are 17th in the table – three points above Fulham – ahead of Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford.

Bruce has attracted much criticism from Newcastle fans who have been unhappy with his style of play and apparent negative tactics, but Solskjaer says the Red Devils legend is doing a ‘very good job’.

He’s done a very good job, of course,’ the Man United boss said ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash.

It’s tight down there but I think the last few weeks they’ve found a different way of playing as well.

Bringing Graham [Jones] in, they’ve tried a diamond, they’ve been more adventurous so I’m not sure what type of game he’ll set up but I know Brucie will go all out for three points.

On the threat of Newcastle, Solskjaer added: ‘Every game in the Premier League is difficult. You’ve got to earn the right. You’ve got to do it by your quality but first of all the attitude.

Run more than them, want it more than them and we’ve got players who have got the quality, so hopefully we can take the chances.

More to follow…
