Jurgen Klopp has defended Liverpool’s transfer strategy and says a lot could happen in the market before the window closes.
It has been a quiet transfer window so far for the Premier League champions, who have only signed Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos.
Liverpool won the title by 22 points last season but defending their crown will not be straightforward, particularly given Chelsea and Manchester City have signed a number of players already this summer.
Frank Lampard has welcomed the likes of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva to Stamford Bridge, while Man City have already spent more than £60m on Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres.
Asked about Liverpool’s transfer strategy and the lack of signings at Anfield, Klopp said: ‘We bought players in already! Kostas, the kids are getting closer.
‘Look, don’t know what will happen. There is a long time to go until October 5. We will deal with our situation like we always have. We will see how much we can or want to spend.
‘Numbers in the squad make sense, we have a big squad at the moment with a lot of young boys.
‘The size of the squad is okay at the moment. I’m happy with what we have but we look constantly for improvement – internally too.’
