Laurent Blanc is closely monitoring Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s situation at Manchester United as he considers his own future.
The Frenchman, who spent two years at Old Trafford as a player, has been out of work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2016 but is keen to return to the dugout.
He has been heavily linked with the Lyon job – which former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho turned down – following Sylvinho’s departure, with ex-Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger also in the frame to take over at the Ligue 1 side.
But Blanc is also casting his eye on the Premier League, as he considers taking a first managerial job outside of France.
The former French national team coach is ‘attentive’ to the situation at Old Trafford and would be interested in replacing Solskjaer should his reign be brought to a premature end, according to RMC.
Solskjaer is under huge pressure after a dismal start to the season.
His side enter the international break just two points above the relegation zone having lost to relegation-threatened Newcastle United before players departed to represent their countries.
United have struggled in attack and have only picked up eight points from their opening eight league matches.
It’s feared Solskjaer could be given the boot if United suffer a humiliating defeat to Liverpool in their first match after international duty.
