All four Premier League teams have now booked their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League after Chelsea and Liverpool both won on Tuesday night.

The two sides only needed to avoid defeat to progress to the last 16, with goals from Naby Keita and Mohamed Salah sealing a 2-0 victory for Liverpool away to Red Bull Salzburg while Chelsea overcame a heavily rotated Lille side at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City have already secured top spot prior to their final group game, while a youngster-heavy Tottenham travel to Bayern Munich knowing they can only finish second.

With one more night of action still to come, 15 of the 16 teams who will progress have already been decided, with only Atletico and Bayer Leverkusen vying for second spot in Group D.

That means Premier League teams can begin thinking about who they will face in the last 16 when the draw is made next week – and both Spurs and Chelsea can expect a very tough tie.

Who can each Premier League club face in the Champions League last 16?

Who can Liverpool be drawn against?

Real Madrid
Shakhtar Donetsk
Atletico Madrid/Leverkusen
Borussia Dortmund
Lyon

Who can Chelsea be drawn against?

PSG
Bayern Munich
Juventus
Barcelona
Leipzig

Who can Tottenham be drawn against?

PSG
Juventus
Barcelona
Leipzig
Valencia

Who can Man City be drawn against?

Real Madrid
Atletico Madrid/Leverkusen
Napoli
Borussia Dortmund
Lyon

Of the five teams Chelsea can be drawn against – they cannot face a fellow Premier League side or Valencia, as they were in the same group – four won their domestic title last season.

Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Juventus and PSG would all prove stern tests, while even RB Leipzig – supposedly the easiest of the ties – are currently fighting for the Bundesliga title and actually sit six points ahead of Bayern in the table.

Spurs cannot face the German champions, having played them in the groups, and Jose Mourinho will no doubt be hoping to land either Valencia or Leipzig.

Both Manchester City and Liverpool, meanwhile, will be hoping to avoid Real Madrid – who finished second behind PSG in Group A – while Lyon and Shakhtar Donestk, who City can’t face, perhaps present the easiest challenges.

When is the Champions League last 16 draw?

Rather than taking place in its usual Friday slot, the draw for the last 16 of the Champions League will take place in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday 16 December.

The draw is scheduled to begin at 11am GMT and is being shown live on BT Sport and the UEFA website, with the teams who finished first in their group – and therefore seeded – playing the second leg at home.
