Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish is in line to make his return from injury in the side’s clash against Fulham this weekend after returning to full training.

The England midfielder has been sidelined since the middle of February with a leg injury sustained in the build-up to a clash against Leicester City.

Dean Smith has been coy over a return date for Grealish and he initially suggested that the playmaker could make a swift return to action.

Villa were unhappy that news of Grealish’s injury leaked on social media before the game against the Foxes, thanks to an account that provides injury updates on fantasy footballers.

But Villa are set to welcome the playmaker back into the fold this weekend after confirming that Grealish had returned to full training.

‘Our captain @jackgrealish returned to first-team training at Bodymoor Heath on Monday,’ tweeted Villa.

Villa have desperately missed Grealish and have won just one of their six matches without the midfielder.

Smith’s side have scored just three goals in that time and their downturn in form has badly affected the club’s hopes of a European finish.

Villa are 10th, five points behind Liverpool in seventh – albeit with a game in hand.
